2016-2017 Director’s Message
Another exciting year is just about to begin and it gives me great pleasure to share with you that our students have achieved excellence in academic, creative, social, cultural, sports and community endeavours. This year, we aim to provide more opportunities for developing student leaders at all levels and increasing exposure of our students in competitions. Benchmarking of other students had also taken part in a number of local and international conferences.
Besides academic achievement, our students excel in the sports competition like basketball, volleyball and football. KIS’s student teams garnered first place and won championship for this year. As a result, a number of KIS students have been selected to join the team who will represent in the ASEAN cup in Indonesia — 3 students for the girls’ football team were selected by the National Football Association, 3 students were selected to represent Vientiane in the volleyball competition and 7 students were selected for the basketball national team.
In the coming academic year, students, teachers can also look forward to a wider range of opportunities to stretch themselves beyond the classroom through greater participation in school events and inter-school competitions. Kiettisack International School (KIS) has many different nationalities that we create a supportive and inclusive environment where students are encouraged to explore their potential and achieve their personal best in all aspects of school life. We offer the very best of teaching and learning which has been specially tailored to meet the needs of the young people who travel across the globe to study with us. I am passionate about students being empowered to succeed. Students will be challenged and engaged through authentic learning opportunities that inspire them to develop creativity, confidence and resilience to become independent and ethical life-long learners. By choosing KIS you are selecting a school that is committed to ensuring your children meet their full potential and receive the skills, knowledge and experience that will allow them to take the next step in their lives when they leave KIS. We believe that we give our students the necessary tools to have a choice about their future.
As part of our core values education program, we have been encouraging our students to take responsibility for the care of the community by organizing fundraising activities that included donating food, books, pencils, computers, teaching materials and football kits. We also shared the cost of building a primary school at Namuong Village, Khamkeut District, Bolikhamsai Province. In addition, students also participated in contributing to the Lone Buffalo Foundation which is located in Phonsavanh, Xiengkhoang province to support the education for the outstanding underprivileged students.
At KIS, we have quality, inspiring and passionate teachers who are essential to a school’s success. As a team, we support each other through effective and innovative professional development that encourages teachers to be reflective and to continuously examine our practice to provide quality teaching and learning for each student. We use all tools available to inspire staff, students and the community to work together to promote student achievement and well-being.
On behalf of the school, I would like to offer my heartfelt congratulations to all the Kiettisack students on their achievements. I enjoy celebrating successes and acknowledge the hard work of staff,
parents, students and the community and I believe this is an important element to a happy school environment. Our students graduate from KIS with the skills, mindsets and qualities that will best equip them for success in the world for their future. Our students are creative, disciplined, caring, dedicated, intelligent, imaginative, respectful and ethical. They are the future leaders and role models of society and we are acutely aware of our obligation to prepare young people to make their way in the world as confident, motivating and responsible citizens.
