2017-2018 Director’s Message

Kiettisack International School (KIS) will celebrate its 6th anniversary in Luang Prabang, Lao PDR during this 2017-18 academic year. We are very proud of our academic performance and it is in our dedication in implementing both the International Cambridge and Lao Curriculums that support all that we do here at KIS.  Education here means so much more than just the attainment of good grades.   Our school is committed to ensuring that our students become active and informed citizens, who are confident, creative learners, equipped for our rapidly changing world. We support the individual wellbeing of our students, by providing a school environment that allows for every student to thrive as they work towards achieving their best performances. We set very high expectations for our students, and we work hard to safeguard positive emotions across our school community. We encourage our students by providing enriching, innovative learning experiences, as we seek to deepen their (K) Knowledge, (I) Inspiration and (S) Success.

The goals of studying at KIS are achieved by many of our school leavers, who will continue their education in universities around the world, which ensures that every student is able to receive the skills, knowledge and experience that will allow them to take the next steps in their lives after they leave KIS. We believe that we give our students the necessary tools, to make the correct choices regarding their future. Our high standards and expectations for each student, in regard to academic performance, extra-curricular participation, and responsible citizenship are the foundations of our school. It is with immense pride that we continue to meet these high standards, we ask each of our students for their continued commitment to maintaining the extraordinary records of achievement, along with the contribution that has been the legacy of our KIS students. It is the contribution of our students to our school community that makes KIS School an exceptional learning community.

We enjoy celebrating successes, and acknowledge the hard work of the staff, students, and the community because we believe these are the key contributing fundamentals to a happy school environment. All staff, students and the community should feel valued and appreciated at our school. All of us take personal and collective responsibility for improving student learning and well-being while working together and learning from each other’s best practices. KIS’s staff members have integrity, are very loyal, and demonstrate a high level of commitment to excellence, openness, transparency, life-long teaching, respect and compassion along with a sense of responsibility and purpose towards our school operations.

KIS students took part in a number of ASEAN and International Conferences and Competitions. Besides academic achievement, our students excel in the sports.  KIS students received gold medals in the 6th Annual National Sports Competition, where the KIS’s students represented Luang Prabang provincial education in Basketball, and the team won the gold medal!

Kiettisack does not just teach students educational subjects we also guide them to demonstrate core values and social education to support less privileged schools.  This is undertaken as part of our character, citizenship and values education.  We encourage our students to take responsibility and to care for, and assist other less privileged students.  We do this by raising funds to help other schools by supplying them with teaching and learning materials, and we supported them by building a new water tank through our community involvement programme. We aim to educate our students and help them to understand from a very young age, the importance of helping others who really need help.

We are excited about the new Academic Year in the 2017-18; the school will embark and look forward to continuing to work closely with our parents, to bring the quality of our education in the year to come, and we look forward to working with you, our parents, and the members of the community, to provide a high-quality education that you all deserve. We wish each of our students, parents and staff members the very best in 2017-2018 school year.

Kind regards,

Chansanga  Valakone
